Condolence: I am truly sorry for your loss, please accept my sincere condolences. I hope the Foleno family will find some comfort and strength in Jesus promise of the earthly resurrection (Acts 24:15, John 5:28, 29) and the renewed Paradise earth, where death is an enemy (1 Corinthians 15:26) that will very soon be eliminated forever, and no family will mourn the death of a loved one (Revelation 21:3,4). This promise has been given by Almighty God Jehovah (Psalms 83:18). Truly, what a glorious and almost unbelievable day that will be! It's a reality though for God cannot lie (Titus 1:2). Condolence: Tears of sadness but smiles of wonderful memories!

I knew Joe professionally and we occasionally did things together outside of work. I read all the posted condolences, some of which brought me to tears but others put a smile on my face.

My sincere and deepest thoughts and prayers to Joe's family, especially James. He spoke of James on so many occasions. He was the most important person in his life.

Joe was a great listener. No matter the subject, Joe knew something about it. He was modest and very humble; traits which are rare and not highly valued in today's society.

One of my favorite memories of Joe is how much he loved "spicy" food. I used to watch him dry his forehead after eating a meal that was way TOO SPICY for me.

Joe, I will miss you. You have had a very positive impact on my life, Thank You!

Condolence: Sending all my love and thoughts to Joe's family. I was struck with sadness to learn of his passing. Joe was a good friend. Patient, kind, and understanding, he always had time to lend an ear and was willing to go out of his way to help someone in need. He was smart, warm and witty. We often laughed, sometimes giggled uncontrollably, about the small absurdities that made life great. That's the most wonderful thing about Joe, if you were lucky enough to get his guard down, you got to see a person who was full of love and life. He introduced me to culture, challenged me to see the world with a wider lens and, of course, taught me the importance of eating really good food. If I could say only one thing about Joe, it would be that he loved his family deeply. He often shared stories about James, Harry, his brother and his parents. It was evident that these people (and Harry) were impactful forces that shaped and informed his life. Joe will not be forgotten as he has left us with these beautiful memories with which to honor him.

I'll miss you, dear friend. Here's to the underdogs.

Condolence: My deepest condolences and prayers to the family. Many of us at work were stunned and saddened when we heard last week. Joe was highly regarded not only for his professionalism and knowledge, but also for his honesty, straightforwardness, and being a great human being. We worked closely on several aspects of projects together. On a personal level, he and I bonded over topics from sports (both Mets fans) to politics, as well as offering me helpful insight and advice when I wanted to confide something with him (he was great at putting things in perspective). I will truly miss him. The fact that so many at work are shaken by this sad news is a testament to Joe and how he had such a positive impact on all of us.

Condolence: Very sad and shocked to learn of Joe's passing. He was a kind, gentle and intelligent friend. He was a man of many interests, and I fondly remember being able to talk to him about almost anything. I don't know many people more well-read or versed in the arts, but to describe him as merely an art fan would be selling him short. He was also a fantastic cook, a scrappy tennis partner, and an asset for any trivia game. Anytime our team of scientists managed to win, we inevitably had JFo to thank.

More than anything else, I remember Joe's devotion to his son James and his late dog Harry. I had the good fortune of observing him with both and it was obvious in these simple moments what kind of person Joe was. I will miss him.

Condolence: I knew Joe both professionally and personally. When we worked together, I was struck by how intelligent he was and what an amazing writer he was. He was always willing to listen and was my go-to for great advice. As I got to know him better, he became a great friend. He was incredibly witty, a much valued member of any trivia team, and a fantastic cook. He kept me updated on the best new restaurants to go to and was a wealth of information on any topic. He always knew the right thing to say and I could count on him when I needed a good laugh. Although I never met James, it was obvious that he was the most important person in Joe's life and I know that Joe was a wonderful father. Joe was one of those rare souls that doesn't come along very often. He will be sincerely missed.

Condolence: My heart goes out to Joe's family at this profound and terrible loss. I had the privilege on spending time periodically with Joe because of his friendship with my dear nephew, Ian Macdonald. It was clear to all who encountered Joe that his was a kind and loving heart, that his humility was deep and real, that he was bright and thoughtful, that his world view and values were humane and compassionate, that he was an innate gentleman, and that he loved his son beyond words or measure. Our world was a better place for knowing Joe; we shall keep him in our hearts, and we shall honor his memory. Please accept my heartfelt condolences.
